Each group identified needs that they felt were important in the community.
The Alcohol and Drug Abuse group felt that the community needed increased availability of treatment.
The Youth and Mental Health group felt that there was a need for an increase in mental healthcare for disadvantaged youth.
The Homelessness group decided that the homeless need tools to get them off their feet and become contributing members of society.
The Art group wanted a way to solve the needs the other groups found to be important.
After much discussion and debate, the class came to identify a single goal that we wanted to achieve….
“Our goal is to improve the quality of life for at-risk young persons (aged 12-25) with an innovative approach to the prevention or relief of any of the following: substance abuse, homelessness, or mental health problems.”
